GGC Inc has formally handed over a 12-classroom school complex in Lofa County to the Liberia Ministry of Education, completing a project that will serve over 600 students from three surrounding communities. The handover ceremony took place on 8 January 2026 and was attended by county officials, community leaders, teachers, and students.
Facility Overview
The complex includes 12 fully equipped classrooms, a dedicated administration block, two separate sanitation facilities for male and female students, a covered assembly area, and a rainwater harvesting system providing clean water for the school. All buildings are constructed to Ministry of Education standards using locally sourced materials where available.
GGC's community development team worked closely with the Lofa County Education Officer throughout the design and construction process to ensure the facility meets the specific needs of the local school population. The project was completed on schedule and within the approved budget.
Addressing Educational Inequality
Lofa County has historically been one of Liberia's most underserved regions in terms of educational infrastructure. Prior to this project, students in the three communities served by the new complex were travelling up to 8 kilometres each way to attend school, with many dropping out during the rainy season when roads became impassable.

Expected Outcomes
The school complex is expected to increase enrolment by 40% in its first academic year, with particular gains anticipated in female student attendance, which has historically been lower in rural Lofa County due to the distance and safety concerns associated with long daily commutes.
This project is part of GGC's broader community development programme, which allocates a portion of revenue from commercial projects to social infrastructure in underserved areas. GGC is currently assessing sites for a second school complex in Nimba County.
